چکیده

A segment of the Guadalquivir River was assessed between Alcalá del Río dam and Seville through an integrative sediment quality assessment. Chemical concentrations metals toxicity under laboratory conditions were used as lines evidence. battery bioassays with four organisms (the amphipod Ampelisca brevicornis, bacteria Vibrio fischeri, sea urchin Paracentrotus lividus, oligochaete Tubifex tubifex) exposed to made it possible determine potential risk associated. The sediments from showed higher values concentration most than Algaba station, Cu (35–37 µg/g), Zn (70–75 Ni (23–26 Pb (27–30 µg/g) being abundant metals. An increasing gradient shown downstream among A. fertilization test using P. freshwater worm growth T. tubifex. Conversely, upstream in embryo-larval lividus development. link contamination makes obtain a contaminant comparable nationally internationally widely accepted guidelines order establish associated this area study.

Perfluoroalkyl substances in the Ebro and Guadalquivir river basins (Spain).

Mediterranean rivers are characteristically irregular with changes in flow and located in high population density areas. This affects the concentration of pollutants in the aquatic environments. In this study, the occurrence and sources of 21 perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) were determined in water, sediment and biota of the Ebro and Guadalquivir river basins (Spain). In water samples, of 21 ...

Policy, politics, and water management in the Guadalquivir River Basin, Spain

[1] Among countries with river basin organizations to manage their water resources, Spain’s experience is one of the longest. One of the first basin agencies established in Spain was for the Guadalquivir River in the south. A case study of that river basin and its management indicates how basin management is shaped by political economy factors such as the historical path of the agency’s evoluti...

Pesticide Concentrations in the Waters from a Section of the Guadalquivir River Basin, Spain

When surface water is used to supply urban settlements, exhaustive studies of the composition of the source are necessary to ensure its potability, and to assess the possible environmental effects associated with contamination by pesticides. The present study centers on the pesticide content of the waters from a section of the Guadalquivir River and its affluents in southern Spain. At many of t...

100 Years of Competition between Reduction in Channel Capacity and Streamflow during Floods in the Guadalquivir River (Southern Spain)

Reduction in channel capacity can trigger an increase in flood hazard over time. It represents a geomorphic driver that competes against its hydrologic counterpart where streamflow decreases. We show that this situation arose in the Guadalquivir River (Southern Spain) after impoundment. We identify the physical parameters that raised flood hazard in the period 1997–2013 with respect to past yea...

Assessment of Heavy Metal Contamination in Surface Sediment of the Darreh-Morad Beyg River

Background and Purpose: The heavy metal pollution and its fractionations in the surface sediments of Darreh-Morad Beyg River, Hamedan City were monitored for Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, Ni, Pb, and Zn in 2014.   Materials and Methods: Totally 30 surface sediment samples were taken from 10 stations with three replicates. The samples subjected to bulk digestion and chemical partitioning. The concentr...
